Relationships Scotland Orkney (RSO), is a voluntary organisation affiliated to the national body Relationships Scotland. RSO provides a range of services to support individuals, couples and families and promote positive relationships. RSO is part of a national network of services which provide Help and Support for Separated Families
They offer Individual and Relationship Counselling, helping individuals and couples explore difficulties and find ways of moving forward. Including a telephone counselling service for individuals by counsellors who have attended specific accredited training.
For young people they offer Youth Counselling and Play Therapy to explore difficulties and worries.
Their Substance Misuse Service is available to offer targeted support and therapy to individuals and family members affected by alcohol or drug misuse.
Family Mediation helps parents whose relationship has broken down to communicate with each other and to make practical arrangements for their children.
They run a Child Contact Centre which helps children and young people affected by family breakdown to keep in touch with adults who are important to them.
Their Family Connections Project helps families to work towards reducing conflict, strengthen family relationships and improve wellbeing. We can also help establish and maintain contact between parents, family members and children they no longer live with.
Orkney Drugs Dog is a registered charity operated by a Board of Trustees, managing two paid staff and currently one dog, Zoe.
Their aim is to contribute to the reduction of the supply of controlled substances coming in to Orkney by the provision of a trained drugs dog or dogs,helping to prevent access to harmful substances for the health benefit of the people of Orkney and neighbouring local authority areas.
They also work in partnership to increase public knowledge and to educate the community as to the extent of drug misuse, its damaging effects on individuals, families, society in general and the economy.

Advocacy Orkney is a free and confidential service whose aim is to help people have their voice heard in decisions that affect their lives. We are an independent charity who support people to speak up so that their views are taken into consideration. Orkney Alcohol Counselling & Advisory Service ("OACAS"), formerly Drinkwise Orkney, has been offering substance misuse Counselling and support to the people of Orkney since 1975. Alcohol and drugs problems are our specialism, but seldom come on their own, so our Counsellors may also explore linked problems such as anger, low mood/depression, grief/loss, relationship (partner, family, work colleagues etc) problems.

Seven of our Counsellors are Alcohol Focus Scotland trained and accredited. OACAS is a COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland) Recognised Counselling & Counselling Skills Organisation.
We take referrals from GPs and other medical workers, Social Services and Criminal Justice, Education, Employers - and from clients direct, indeed from almost any source.

Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. The Service is for those aged 18 years and over self referral are accepted but GP referral is preferable with the Clients consent.
Support for those with Dual Diagnosis, Alcohol and Drug Problems.
The Team comprises of Community Mental Health Nurses and Social Care Workers. We also have direct access to Psychiatrity and Psychology Services. We are supported by Social Workers and an Occupational Therapist.
The Service offers a range of evidence based interventions to address the needs of individuals with Substance misuse issues. These include: comprehensive assessments; client centred care planning; alcohol or drug detoxification; harm reduction strategies; access to Rehabilitation programmes; Recovery based treatments; Acupuncture, Psychological Therapies; signposting to appropriate Services and Agencies; Psychoeducation and specialist advice regarding substances and Psychosocial Interventions.
We also offer Training and advice to other Agencies around substances.

The needle exchange service operates from Skerryvore Practice, Health Centre, New Scapa Road in Kirkwall. This is a free service for users of intravenous (IV) drugs and performance enhancing drugs (e.g. steroids).
The service aims to reduce the spread of blood borne viruses (HIV, Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B) and to offer information and advice to reduce the harms associated with injecting drug use.
No appointment is necessary and you can drop in Monday – Friday between 9am – 5pm

Ypeople Orkney, in partnership with Turning Point Scotland and funded by Orkney Alcohol and Drugs Partnership (OADP) run a variety of local services, in addition to its Young Persons' Supported Accommodation Service (YPSAS).
Y-Talk is a youth counselling service for children and young people living in Orkney, aged 12-25 affected by substance misuse, either directly or indirectly. They might also be experiencing additional problems with stress, depression, anxiety, feeling down, self-harm, not coping, feeling alone or bullying.
Y-Talk provides online and telephone counselling, as well as group and one-to-one counselling services at a range of youth venues, as well as at the office at 43 Junction Road. This is a free, professional and confidential service that welcomes referrals from all individuals and agencies.
The Ypeople Orkney office is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am - 5.00pm. We offer flexible appointment times, including evenings and weekends, for both the Family Support Service and Y-Talk counselling sessions. Please contact us for further details.
